IIT Jam 2013 (Joint Admission Test for M.Sc): Application Form, Eligibility, Notification, Syllabus, Pattern

1) Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) & Indian Institute of Science (IISc), the top most educational institutions of India has conducted JAM exam for the academic year 2013-2014 for admissions to various M.Sc., Joint M.Sc.-Ph.D., M.Sc.-Ph.D. Dual Degree and other post-bachelor degree programmes. The mentioned exam will commence on 10th February 2013.

It has been announced that Model Question papers will be made available in the website of IIT JAM 2013, henceforth ,to secure good result in exam students can download model test papers for practice.


2) Eligibility :

(a) At least 55% aggregate marks (taking into account all subjects, including languages and subsidiaries, all years combined) for General/OBC category candidates and at least 50% aggregate marks (taking into account all subjects, including languages and subsidiaries, all years combined) for SC, ST and PD category candidates in the qualifying degree.

(b) Proof of having passed the qualifying degree with the minimum educational qualification.

(c) Physical fitness test will be taken during the admission process to ensure that the candidate is fit

3) Syllabus:
Here is the categorised list of exam papers for PG & Dual Degree programmes for IIT JAM 2012

a) M.Sc includes the following papers :

Mathematics (MA)
Biotechnology (BT) comprises of Biology (44% weightage),Chemistry(20% weightage), Mathematics(18% weightage)& Physics(18% weightage).
Geology (GG)
Physics (PH)
Geophysics (GP) comprises of any combination of Mathematics, Physics or Geology
Applied Mathematics, Industrial Mathematics and Informatics, Mathematics and Computing etc.

b) Joint M.Sc -Ph.D Programme consists Mathematics, Geology, Chemistry, Physics, Geophysics etc.

c) M.Sc - Ph.D Dual Degree includes Operations Research, Energy, Environmental Science and Engineering, Biotechnology, etc.

d)Master of Computer Applications (MCA)

4) Pattern:
Biotechnology and Computer Applications test papers will be fully objective type.
All other test papers will be objective-cum-subjective type carrying weightages of 30% and 70%, respectively.

5) Application:
Online as well as Offline applications are available. Online applications will be accepted through http://gate.iitd.ac.in/jam/index.html, from 20th September 2012. Closing date for the online registrations is 23rd October 2012.
